It's been such a long time!!! I can't believe it's been since August 2009.

Oh well, Happy New Year to all (that's if there's anyone else reading this besides me) I'm so sick right now. I can't even see straight. So if there's any misspelled blame it on the sickness.

My little Baby Mimi will be a year old next week. So sweet. I can't believe it's that time. That makes me so sad.

That's how many birthdays I've had as of today.

Now that I look at it, I've been in this world for a long time. I don't think I'm old, but if I really think about everything I've done in my life...I'm old! lol

I have so many good and bad memories. The earliest I remember was when I was about 3-4 years old and almost got hit by a car. I remember running out the house into the street, I look to the side and I see this huge car (huge in my eyes) hit the brake and stopping about five inches away from me. I remember not moving. Not being scared. I guess because I was so young I didn't know how dangerous that was and didn't know how to react to it. After that, I see my dad and the rest of the family run out the house to get me.

I have a ton of stories, but I'll be here typing forever. Maybe another time.

So, happy birthday to me! :)

Our 4th of July by the lake

Usually, on the 4th of July we go to my brother's house to see the fireworks from the stadium around the corner.

This year, he decided to have a little getaway and we did too. Well, not for a whole weekend but a day. :)

We went with hubby's sister and her boyfriend's family. We had a day full of baseball (we didn't play...we're not into sports) BBQ (with no lighter fluid or matches) and a beautiful day by the lake.

The kids had so much fun. Especially K when she stepped on the wet grass and her legs got splashed with mud. She started crying so much because it was "icky". lol
Never mind that she was playing with a worm two hours prior to that.

Rainy days

This Summer has been full of rain. Almost everyday since June it has been raining. The last time I remember June being so wet was when K was born in '93. I remember I wanted to go out with her and walk around and dress her up in all those cute outfits she got. But of course, that didn't happen. It rained all month long.

Just the other day around 8pm all I see outside is an orange reflection. The sky was orange, WTH! It was weird and a little strange. I told hubby to go out and take a picture. This was the best he got. As you can see, it's just some weird colors.

Now that I'm not working, I was looking forward to taking the kids out once school was over. So far, that's not happening. I also don't have my car. I can always take the kids to park, but I would like to take them elsewhere that's not around here.

July's here, so we have the rest of this month and next month. Hopefully, the weather clears up. I'm sure when we hit those humid heat waves I'll be asking for some rain. But until then, Mr. Sun...don't hate us and make your lovely presence.

I can't believe my little girl is 6 already! She's getting older and I want her to stay little. But of course, that's not possible.

Kindergarten celebration!

Yesterday, K had her kindergarten celebration. What we didn't know was that it was more like a graduation! When D had his celebration at the other school it was not a graduation. They had games set up for them and parents out on the court. They played all day and got their certificates at the end of the day. That's it. So, with K, I though it would be the same thing.

When we pulled up to the school looking for parking, we see the parents with balloons and all dressed up. I'm wearing shorts and flip flops mind you. We walk in and I don't see any games. They kids started walking in and started singing. Guess what, graduation! Without the cap and gown. I was so upset because they didn't mention it. Yeah it's a different school, but it's in the same district.

Anyway, they sang a few songs and the kids were called up on stage one by one. Leave it to K to be the last one from her class to be called. She tripped and climbed up the small steps. Too funny and cute. She also got a "book-it" award. For reading 20 or more books every month. At least half of the kinder class got it.

We took some pictures. Not enough though. Since we were sitting all the way in the back and they didn't allow the parents to stand up and take pics. Why do that? Obviously, this is something we would like to remember. So why have someone tell you to sit down or lower your arms while trying to take pictures is ridiculous! It was really annoying.

She did enjoy herself. And after the celebration, we took her to IHop to have a late breakfast.

My little girl will be turning 6 on the 17th. So I've been looking through her pictures and videos. I can't believe how much she's grown and changed over time.

I find it pretty awesome that she likes the same type of music we like. We're in the car and requests her songs. She doesn't know the artists name so she'll sing a bit of the song. Expect for I Love You Airlines. She knows them by name because I told her. Some of the ones she likes, Radiohead, M.I.A., Gossip, Joan Jett, and some ol'school hip hop,lol.

Cloth Couture Diapers...

If you don't have any, you should! They are so soft and fluffy. I get so excited!

I got some last week. And of course I had to try them on Mia right away. I managed to take pics of only two since the other two were in the pail to be washed. Mia was so excited, as soon as I put them on her, she peed on them :)I'll be sure to take more pics later.

She's usually without a cover with them for about an hour. Since she's still only 3 months, she's always sleeping. And as you can see, she's a happy baby with a happy bum.

My first Tag Blankie

So as some may already know, my sewing skills are not the greatest right now. But practice makes perfect right.

I decided to make a little tag blankie for Mia.

I used:
Ribbon that I already had
girly skull print fleece
and bamboo velour (so soft)

Pin them all together and made a blankie. Mia grabbed it right away and loved it (she told me so in baby talk, LOL).

Kyla now wants one even though she's 5 (6 on the 17th!). It would have to be bigger though.

Foggy Field Trip

There's nothing better than spending time with your child. Even if you have to share it with another 20 kids the same age in the school field trip.

I had to follow the school bus. Which was not good since they took off and I was not able to catch up. But since they were going to Liberty State Park, I didn't need to follow. I took my own route and found it.

The kids had a great time, since they spent all their time at the playground. I took a little walk and took some pics.

The New York skyline was like a blur. Too much fog.

This was about an hour later. Almost completely covered.

After the kids had lunch, we left home. But we had to make a quick stop to see the Statue of Liberty.

The fog was going away by this time but it started to get a bit chilly.

I embellished my first diaper!!

Not bad for someone who just started sewing. It's simple, so it's not a big deal. I made a skirt for Kyla, but needs to be fixed.
I'm waiting for more fabrics to come in. I'll be experimenting a lot, but with old rags. I don't want to mess up the nice fabric I'm getting.

My next project.
I made more clippies! I've been making more and doing some research so they can be perfect. I don't like to put anything out there that would fall apart or something I, myself, would not use.

Next project, hopefully, handbags!
I'm very picky when it comes to bag, so we shall see.

Meeting strangers

I went to Hoboken with Mia today. We went to meet another babywearing mama who also uses cloth diapers. She was there with her little baby who's same age as Mia. He was born on 2/20/09 and her other son who's 2yo. We had a nice time talking about carriers and cloth diapers.

It was nice to have someone else share the sames interests as you. It's hard to find anyone around here share that with you. Every time I go out wearing Mia I get weird looks all the time.

Next meeting, I'll probably be bringing Kyla so she can play with her little boy.

I really do. I used to get grossed out before I started, just thinking about poop. But now, it's nothing. I remember trying to do it with Kyla. But had no idea where to start. I had no idea I can wash them myself. I though the only options were wash them by hand, which I did not want to do or get a diaper service, which was pretty expensive.

We did use a few cloth training pants. Of course, it leaked right through. I guess because I wasn't using them correctly.

Before I had Mia, I notice a few of the pregnant mommies on the forum talk about their "new stash of cloth diapers & wipes". I though, wow...that's cool. Then, Mia was born. First week in the house and she got a diaper rash. A few of the mamas mentioned using cloth. That was it! Off to search I went.

There was a ton of information. I don't like to read much because I get bored (go figure). But the information was so overwhelming it kept me wanting to read more. And I did and was convinced.

On one of my many trips to Babies R Us, we walked by the diaper section. I saw they had gDiapers. Hubby was with me and told him we should give them a try. He said, "whatever, if you think you'll use them, go ahead". Bought the started kit, went online for more info and found out instead of the flushable inserts, I can buy "cloth" inserts. Well, that's a start. Someone recommended The Nappy Shoppe. They have the gFlapper which are inserts especially made for the gDiapers. I purchased a few of them and also decided to buy a Bumgeius 3.0. Let's try that out. So excited!!

I started looking at some more cloth diapers and thought they were a little expensive. But, you can get them used! Yes, used! I know, gross right? But I figured, what if I buy a bunch of new dipes and don't like it at all. I will waste all this money. If I buy them used, at least it's not that much.

So, I registed on diaperswappers and off to their FSOT. I found three Fuzzi Bunz, two Bumgenius & two GADs. I couldn't wait to get them.

After that, I started getting some little by little. And now I have about 40 altogether and still growing. I need to get rid of some.

Now with the wipes. Since I'm already using cloth dipes, I might as well use cloth wipes. I had old flannel receiving blanket I've had since Darius was born. I cut a bunch and sewed them up. And now I have my own cloth wipes. Got some honey chunks added some warm water and made my own wipes solution! I love it. I put it in a spray bottle, and when I'm ready to use them I just spray away.

It's funny how now we're the start of a "conversation". "Oh, did you see the new diapers? You can wash them instead of throwing them out! And they come in all colors and designs" Even at the doctors. I'm the "mommy who washes her diapers". Too funny.

I wish everyone would at least try cloth diapering. You never know, you may just love them like I do. :)

Yes, I started using them. They're not as bad as they seem. When we started using cloth diapers I said there was no way I would use cloth pads. But I'm already washing poopie diapers, how different would my pads be.

It's a lot more comfortable than I though it would be. You don't feel that ickyness and dampness you do with disposable pads.

I had gotten a few of the wingless pads. Even with the fleece or flannel backing, they were moving all over the place. I needed the wings. I'm no expert, but I made a pattern from my other liners with wings, sewed them to the side of the pads and since I don't have snaps, I added velcro. TaDa!! I got pads with wings. They're different colors and not professional but they work.

Mission accomplished!

Next step, family cloth. I just need to cut and sew a few of them together.

After that, no-pooing. No, it's not poop.

Mother's Day

I had such a nice time yesterday. Kyla heard me get up in the morning and couldn't wait to give me her presents. She had three of them, but wanted to give them to me one by one. She gave me the cutest cup she made in school. It was full of unicorns, sun, rainbow and drew herself and I together.

After that, she gave me a card with her handprint.

And last, another card which read...

As you can see, she can't really spell right. But she's only in Kindergarten and at least she's trying.

Darius got me a "pink diamond". Not really a diamond. But he went on a school field trip to Liberty Science Center. He went to the gift shop and with his own money he got me that present. So thoughtful. But I did tell him he didn't have to do that. He was saving that money to buy a video game. I know he meant well and wanted to do something special for me.

And Mia, well her presents....spit-up, farts and poopie diapers :D

No sleep and still pink eye

I went to the eye doctor today. Thanks to my cousin Lida. I got some eye drops and I have to constantly wash my hands so the rest of the family doesn't get it. It's some type of bacterial conjunctivitis. My eye's been red since yesterday. Almost bloodshot. I have to keep scrubbing my eyes because it feel like I have dirt in there. Hopefully, it's not that bad tomorrow. Don't want to spend Mother's Day like this.

Now with the sleep. Lately, I haven't gone to bed until around 2am. This is not good. I don't feel sleepy. I just go to sleep because I need to. Then of course, I wake up around 7am because that's the time Mia wake up and wants to eat. After that, I can't go back to sleep.

Sick and the rain

After having a bad soar throat for three days, I finally went to the doctor today. Mainly, because my ears were hurting and had a feeling it was an infection. I went to the urgent care place around my house. I hate going there because the doctor literally comes in for like 5 seconds and gives you meds and off you go. I would've had to wait to see my regular doc.

Anyway, I have an ear infection. I already got my meds and hopefully, I'll be feeling better soon. I hate being sick! :(

I don't mind the rain. But c'mon already! It's been raining since Monday. Well today the sun came out. But it's about 11:50pm right now and it's pouring outside. I want to be able to enjoy the day already and go for a walk or something.

I really hope we don't have a rainy Mother's Day.

Cinco de Mayo!

Yeah, I'm Spanish...but not Mexican. But we still go out and celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It's an excuse. Ralphy called out from work because I was sick, but we know the real reason ;)

Early afternoon we went to Kyla's school. The had a little Cinco de Mayo celebration. She had to bring in chips and salsa. Ralphy, Mia and myself went and as soon as we got there all the little kids were like "Hola! Aww, look at the baby, it's Kyla's baby". They all know about the baby because Kyla made sure she told everyone her little sister was coming into this world on February 12th. We had to sit on those little chairs, pretty uncomfortable with our big booties lol. They all had painted newspaper sombreros they made in class. They played some games, pin the watch on Dora's arm and of course a pinata.

After that finished, we dropped off the baby at my mom's house so we could go get dinner. We decided not to bring Mia this time. She was a little cranky plus we wanted to enjoy a little time alone with Darius and Kyla without Mia crying during meals, like she always does. We went with the kids and Maria & Iso. Of couse, we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise. The main reason we go there is for their Teriyaki Chicken Wings appetizer.

They were having a little celebration themselves (we knew that already lol) They even had a mariachi. And....$3.50 Margaritas!!!! WooHoo! So guess what we had....

As you can see, my sister is having fun. We're not lushes. We just like to take advantage of a good deal on drinks. We didn't have that many since the kids were with us.

We all had a good time. I came home and went right to sleep. I was tired. I don't get much sleep at night.

This time last year...

...we were getting ready to leave to Puerto Rico. We spent Mother's Day there which was pretty cool. We had so much fun. Especially since the kids went with us for the first time. They had so much fun. They ask all the time now, "when are we going back". We went to the beach almost every single day. Big help that our hotel was a block away from the beach. Whenever we were hungry we walked to the town. There was this little spot where we went to get breakfast. It was good and cheap compared to the restaurants in the tourist section. And that's where we found....mayokechu (mayonnaise & ketchup). They mix it up and just put it in a bottle or you can buy it mixed already. Yeah, it's a simple mix but it's so yummy especially with tostones. Now I want some.

We took a long drive to the west side of the island to visit Ralphy's parents and grandma..and aunt and uncle lol. A long ride but we had so much fun. The kids stayed with my in-laws and drove back to San Juan. This time we took the other way so we basically drove around half the island and cut through the middle. Does that make sense.

One of our stops was Boqueron. It was a weekday so it wasn't busy at all. We had lunch at one of the restaurants which leads out into the water. Everyone else had seafood except me. As tempting as everything was I was still not going to eat it. I think I had the chicken or pork mofongo, don't remember. All I remember is having a nice Margarita...yum!

I can go on and on about this trip, but it'll take forever. And I'm tired and have to wash diapers.

Our next trip is in December. We'll be spending New Year's in Puerto Rico. Can't wait!

Nice weather and not so nice weather

We went to Iso's 1st game Saturday. Too bad they lost :( That's ok though, they're getting better. It was so nice out, I think almost 80 degrees. It was just the girls, Kyla, Mia and myself. Of course, all Mia did was sleep in the wrap. Darius was at Joselo's house, stayed for the weekend and Ralphy was working. It sucks that he's at work all the time, but at least he's working now and hopefully for a while.

Sunday, we went to the GoGreen Expo in NYC. It was pretty cool. I went by the gDiapers' booth with my little gbaby of course. I saw the cute little pink with ruffles cover...super cute. After that we went to St Marks to get some frites and San Loco. We haven't had that in a long time! It was so yummy!!

It's been raining all day today. I had planned on running some errands today with Mia not counting on the weather. I had to leave Mia with my mom so she wouldn't get wet and get things done.

Right now, it's pouring. I should be sleeping but I'm waiting for the diapers to dry. I feel like I've been washing diapers all afternoon. They had to be stripped since I noticed a bit of ammonia smell after they dried the first time. Hopefully, they dry soon so I can put them away. Or they can just stay in the dryer until tomorrow :)

Zoo fun

Since Kyla was sick almost all week and it was raining for the most part, we didn't have time to do anything with the kids during Spring Break. Well, I decided Thursday night I'll take the kids to the Bronx Zoo Friday with or without Maria. At the last minute, Maria decided she would go.

Our plan was to be at the zoo by 10am and leave around 2pm so Iso can make her softball practice. We didn't leave the house until around 10:40am. We get to the GWB and there was some traffic. We get to the Bronx and there was traffic. I'm guess half of NY decided they wanted to go to the zoo as well because there was traffic everywhere! There was traffic two miles around the zoo. We decided to just look for parking "locally". We parked two blocks from the zoo which is not bad. We got there around 12:30pm. So much for leaving at 2pm.

It was so nice out. The zoo was packed! I couldn't believe how many people were there. We only got to see half the zoo. We wanted to see the gorillas and the elephants but by the time we got there it was closed.

Kyla wanted to go see the butterflies, of course. It was so nice there. That's where I took the most pictures because they were so close. There was no purpose of me taking pictures of animals that were too far away.

Funny how the most interesting was the smallest in the zoo.

I drove back home. And of course, more traffic. We left at 5pm didn't get home until 7pm. We were so tired. All we did was eat then fell asleep.

I entered a lotto for a test set on DS last week. I never win anything so you know I was excited when I get a pm saying "Congrats". Yay! I won! All I had to pay was the shipping which was like $3.50. I tried it on Mia right away and it looks super cute.

We had to take her to the doctor yesterday. She was pretty sick. I knew she wasn't feeling well. When we went to Veggie Heaven the other day, she had her head down and kept saying she was tired. Well, that night, she woke up and Ralphy went to check on her. She did have a fever and was crying. When we took her to the Dr, her fever was 103 so they prescribed some meds for her.

All she's been doing is sleep. Every now and then she'll wake up talking to her herself and gets all upset. She looks sick too, bags under her eyes and everything. :(

She's a little better today. Right now she's sleeping and counting now in her sleep.

I need to go to the post office to get stamps. I've been trying to go since Monday, but there's always something, no parking, long lines and now today...April 15th. So you know I'm probably not getting it today. I can't stand on line with all three kids. Plus it's raining outside today and I don't want to take the baby out. All I need for now is one stamp. I know I used to go to the grocery store and buy just one (of course for a few more cents). But I don't know where to go. I can also get them at certain ATMs, but which ones?

Poor little Mia was so cranky yesterday after her shots. She started running a temperature so I had to run out and get some Tylenol. I should've had some of course, but it's probably in storage. Thank goodness there's a Rite Aid down the block. She fell asleep after the Tylenol so all was a bit better.

We ended up going to Veggie Heaven for dinner. And it was so so good! I had the crispy chicken with broccoli, brown rice and wonton soup. Ralphy had guacamole and shrimp thing with chips and plain noodles. Kyla asked for her spaghetti (plain lo mein) and of course Darius didn't have anything, just chips. He is so picky he would rather starve than eat healthy. I gave him a bit of my chicken and he didn't like it. I think it's just the fact that he know it's not real "chicken", he just won't eat it. Last week, we ordered a whole wheat pizza. He had two slices and ate it all. After Maria told him it was whole wheat he said he didn't like it. That it taste weird. But he ate it.

Dr's visit

Mia had her 2 month appointment today. She now weighs 12lbs 5oz and she's 21 inches. Poor thing also had her shots today :( She cried so bad I felt bad for her. All I could do is hold her real tight and it did help a bit.

She was rockin' one of her new diapers today, her Chunky Monkey cutie dipe.

Also took advantage of taking pictures of the kids together. I've been trying to take pics but something always comes up.

Party Dress

Mia went to her first party yesterday. DJ and all. She was sleeping most of the time, so I'm guessing it didn't bother her. Which is good since we have parties all the time.

Today, she's two months already. It seem a lot longer though. She's starting to pull my hair and my shirt so I guess I can say she's doing something different everyday.
